Principles
I first came across the Principles page on Bartosz Pucek’s website. These ideas resonated with me, so I wanted to share them here too. Some are reproduced in his original wording. Credit goes to Bartosz.
- Unmitigated daily discipline in all things. It’s the one thing that will make or break your life.
- Be an infinite learner. Reading (learning) is the ultimate meta-skill. Think about spending on books as an investment.
- Mindset sets your direction. Choose it carefully, and you will find your way.
- Our life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think.
- Understand the 80/20 rule.
- Over-prepare. Never be late.
- Underpromise, overdeliver.
- Always try to stay calm no matter what.
- All the real benefits in life come from compound interest. Understand compounding.
- Be endlessly curious. Hang out on the edges.
- Knowledge is the compound interest of curiosity.
- Everything has been done before. The scenes change, but the behaviors and outcomes don’t.
- Mistakes create opportunities for growth. Fail often, learn quickly.
- Be prepared to fight for your life. Learn how to fight. Try survival training.
- You never know what struggles people are hiding.
- Don’t criticize someone in front of others.
- Always demand a deadline.
- Listening > speaking.
- Do not complain.
- Don’t be the smartest person in the room.
- There is always a way out.
- Always give more than you take.
- Experiment and tinker — take lots of small risks.
- Encourage intellectual debate.
- Your habits make you. Stick to simple rules.
- Earn with your mind, not your time.
- Say “thank you” a lot!
